<h1 class="wp-block-heading">New Porsche Macan EV to get Taycan platform and tech</h1>



<p>New electric Porsche SUV will arrive in 2021 with potentially 700bhp in Turbo S guise, and distinct bodystyle from standard car</p>



<p><a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-reviews/porsche">Porsche’s</a>&nbsp;SUV boss has confirmed more details of the next-generation,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/porsche-plans-electric-suv-and-tesla-roadster-rivalling-sports-car">all-electric Macan</a>, first revealed by Autocar in October 2018.</p>



<p>The new model will feature an entirely different bodystyle from the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/macan">existing Macan</a>&nbsp;to reflect its status as a reinvented model for the brand.</p>



<p>Speaking to Autocar at the recent Frankfurt motor show,&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-reviews/porsche">Porsche’s</a>&nbsp;director of SUVs, Julian Baumann, confirmed that the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-news/new-cars/petrol-porsche-macan-continue-alongside-electric-model-2021">existing, internal combustion-engined Macan will remain on sale alongside the new Macan</a>&nbsp;during a transitional phase. The offering will broadly mirror that offered by the&nbsp;<a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/taycan/first-drives/porsche-taycan-2020-review">Taycan</a>/<a href="https://www.autocar.co.uk/car-review/porsche/panamera">Panamera</a>&nbsp;duo.</p>

<p>Det betyder att nästan majoriteten av kompakta SUV-segmentet är elbilar. &#8211; Tesla, Audi, Mercedes, BMW, PSA group med DS och Renault etc. satsar på elektriska fordon 2020- och framgent.<br>Att tiden verkligen är inne för helektrisk drivlina är det inget snack om längre!</p>

<p>Porsche gör en lustig namn-förändring, igen dessutom? Porsche Taycan är uppenbarligen att se som basmodell (av tre). En version  med fyrhjulsdrift, Taycan 4S.<br>Nu har man plötsligt ett nytt namn för sin premiummodell?? Taycan Turbo?<br>Varför denna koppling till en gammal teknik för förbränningsmotorer?<br>En hyllning till Farfars-farfars-far 911 Turbo &#8211; Förefaller vara ett val som nog väcker nyfikenhet, men också en del frågor?</p>

<p>Hur många delar av de ingredienserna får nog Porsche själva förklara, och det kan ligga viss bäring i det? Redan 1975 introducerades modellen, <a rel="noreferrer noopener" aria-label="typ 930 (öppnas i en ny flik)" href="https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Porsche_930" target="_blank">typ 930</a>, som blev ikonisk med sin relativt enkla form med en uppseendeväckande vinge, stor som en ”terass” baktill. </p>

<p>Modellens breddade skärmar och låga profil gjorde också att det var något ”sensuellt” över formerna.  Den blev snart <strong>populär</strong> i media där den kunde dyka upp i diverse filmer och ibland i så skilda ämnen som annonser för cigaretter och semesterorter.</p>

There is no official word on whether the 4S enjoys a performance advantage over the base car or if the Turbo version has more power than the 4S. The 0–100 time is scintillating performance by most standards, but the Tesla Model S P100D with Ludicrous mode will trounce the Taycan at the drag strip unless the Porsche option spices up the Turbo trim somehow.</p></blockquote>
