Rivian R1T river upp fördomar om Pick-up, 100% eldriven! 180 kWh! Uppdaterat!

Rivian lanserar nu deras ”Pick-up-dödare” – 100% eldriven med helt otroliga effekt-data och egenskaper. Jag har läst och studerat projektet tidigare men vågade inte riktigt tro på det. Nu ger de nog Fossilfordonsindustrin mer att vara oroliga för?

Unlike other high-profile electric vehicle startups, Rivian mostly stayed in the shadows to develop its EV technology and prepare a plan to secure volume production of its vehicles.

Företagets grundare och koncernchef är Robert ’RJ’ Scaringe (född 19 januari 1983), en examen från Rensselaer Polytechnic Institute och Massachusetts Tekniska Högskola. 
Rivian planerade att släppa sin första produktionsbil redan 2013, med flera  modeller 2014. Dessa bilar släpptes aldrig. Företaget lade därefter fokus på autonoma elfordon.

I december 2017 meddelade Rivian att de hade för avsikt att bygga både en SUV och pickup truck på samma plattform. Pick-upen skulle komma först, följt av en sju-sitsig SUV. http://products.rivian.com/suv/

Rivian förvärvade en tillverkningsanläggning nära Normal, Illinois i den tidigare fabriken Mitsubishi Motors i januari 2017.

“Rivian’s battery module is made up of the same sized battery cells that Tesla uses in the Model 3, commonly referred to as 2170, but the physical configuration of the cells differs quite a bit. Though the module is significantly thicker than Tesla’s, with two cells stacked on top of each other, it’s more energy dense by volume and weight. Separating the two levels of cells is Rivian’s cooling systems.”
